Customers' feedback on Asbestos In Popcorn Ceilings by Leon A. Frechette
The comments below are from customers who found Asbestos In Popcorn Ceilings helpful as they faced their own decision: what do we do with our popcorn ceiling if it contains asbestos?
The article was very helpful and we've decided to have the asbestos removed. Actually, the abatement contractor is taking out the entire ceiling so we're leaving nothing to chance. Your article gave us the insight needed to make an informed decision. Thank you!

Your advice in the article "Asbestos In Popcorn Ceilings" turned out to be helpful. I looked in the phone book yellow pages per your suggestions and had the popcorn ceiling material tested. It came back positive by 3%, so I will now paint ceilings throughout house. Thanks. Don B. (11/16/06)

Your article was very informative. I had been unsure about a particular course of action, and the article clarified things.

For weeks I've been involved in a basic devil/angel-on-your-shoulder debate: "Scrape it off....water is free" vs. "Abate....@$2,100." I was hoping to find an article that lines up with all the do-it-yourselfers who seem to think that the asbestos scare is overblown and would encourage readers to just wet the popcorn ceiling down and scrape it off. With the hope that I could save boatload of money, I read your article. Darn!

My husband and I plan to remove the popcorn ceiling in our 1970s home. As an afterthought, I told him that we might be able to pick up some pointers from the Internet and that I would do a quick search. I knew about asbestos, of course, but never realized that it could be in the ceilings of a house built after its use in popcorn ceiling mix was banned. Needless to say, I was shocked. We are contacting our local EPA, as the article suggested, to learn how to test the ceilings. At the time I purchased the article, it seemed a bit pricey, but it was well worth the price. In fact, depending on the test outcomes, it might have been a lifesaver. Thanks for making this important information available.
