How do I replace loose or broken tiles?
Loose and broken tiles are easily replaced. Scrape the old bonding material and grout from the backs and sides of the tiles as well as from the
wall surface. Apply adhesive to the tile, set it in place, let it dry for 24 hours, and grout.
If there are many loose tiles, you might have a serious water problem that will require further investigation and more extensive repairs.
If you need to replace broken tiles, it may be difficult to find matching tiles. One solution would be to selectively remove tiles to form a pattern and then install decorative or contrasting tiles. That may be a more attractive solution than replacing a broken tile with one that almost—but not quite—matches. If you end up removing and replacing all your tiles, then be sure to purchase a few extras for future use.
