I used info from your article (Floating partition walls to basement requirements?) to help construct the interior rooms for my barn. Like your original questioner, I am in Colorado—about 40 miles south of Denver—and have to deal with expansive soils.

For the barn, I used exterior doors to seal the rooms from the barn environment. Therefore, I had to float around the doors (rather than just leave space below). I got the job done, but my design was far more complicated and labor-intensive than would work for most people.

I found few people who could even give me advice on how to go about it, let alone give me a design. If you have any info on how to accomplish this, others might find it useful.
